Every spring, the Student Centers come together to celebrate the accomplishments of our outstanding Registered Student Organizations, Blue Hen Leadership Program, and employees. The opportunity to reflect on the past year is always a highlight to take a step back and appreciate students' and organizations' evolution. This year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 YoUDee Leadership Awards streamed live via Facebook on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at 5 p.m. The Facebook chat feed was lively and connecting as participants celebrating from all over. The production was a joint effort from Student Centers staff and Student Life partners, who came together to film and record their parts over zoom and was produced in advance.
Over 4.5 thousand people witnessed 80 students, staff, and registered student organizations (RSOs) receive recognition for their hard work during the 2019-20 academic year. Nominees were awarded in programming, philanthropy, marketing/design, fiscal management, and overall achievement—awardees were mailed trophies and gifts in the mail. The event is hosted by the fabulous Sara Lowery, Assistant Director of Fraternity and Sorority Leadership & Learning and concludes with some fun-spirited outtakes with a Wookiee.
Typically the annual awards ceremony is a large banquet held in the Trabant University Center. At the ceremony, students have a chance to dress up, enjoy dinner, and watch a live show. Afterward, they walk away with YoUDee Award trophies in the shape of our famous Blue Hen "YoUDee" and pose for pictures with the live mascot.
